The City of Lenexa is seeking a Stormwater Maintenance Worker in the Municipal Services Department to maintain storm drains, inlet structures, vegetation and water conveyance systems around Lenexa, Kansas. This entry-level role offers on-the-job training and the opportunity to earn a CDL within the first months.

Work includes operating equipment, performing inspections, and joining a small crew under a foreman to ensure safe, effective stormwater management, with snow/ice response and routine

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or two years of construction/landscape experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements, or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire.
• Work Zone Safety Certification including Flagger; complete NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 within three months of hire.

Responsabilités

• Perform maintenance and repairs on storm drainage systems, including shovel work, rock, and cleaning drainage structures.
• Assist in stream stabilization and restoration projects.
• Perform storm sewer system repairs and equipment operations (dump trucks, tractors, loaders, etc.).
• Manage native vegetation, mowing, weed-eating, and erosion control as required.
• Conduct walk-around equipment inspections, log maintenance needs, and report malfunctions.
