Job summary

The role administers the City’s Stormwater Management Program, ensures safe operation of heavy equipment, and provides on-call support to address drainage issues and public concerns. A lead-capacity background is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Five years of street, drainage, or traffic maintenance experience, including two years in a lead capacity.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License required within one year of employment.
• Confined Space Entry, Trench Safety, and Work Zone Traffic Control certifications required within six months.
• Certifications: CISEC or CESSWI within three years from date of hire.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Leads and participates in maintenance, construction, and improvement of drainage infrastructure including sewers, channels, ditches, ponds, and rights-of-way.
• Administers the Stormwater Management Program and oversees drainage projects, field design, planning, and coordination with external agencies; prepares project documentation.
• Supervises staff with direction, training, performance feedback, and safety compliance.
• Operates heavy equipment and tools to support drainage maintenance and construction; performs manual work as needed.
• Monitors and coordinates maintenance of departmental equipment; schedules repairs and performs field repairs as necessary.
• Provides on-call and emergency response for drainage issues and public concerns; supports other departments as required.
• Serves as acting Stormwater Systems Supervisor in absence and supports continuity of operations.
