Job summary

The City of San Marcos is seeking a Stormwater Crew Leader to plan, coordinate, and oversee drainage infrastructure maintenance and construction, ensuring safe and reliable stormwater systems and strong coordination with external agencies.

This role directs projects, performs field design work, supervises staff, and administers the Stormwater Management Program, including equipment operations and on-call support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5) years of street, drainage, or traffic maintenance experience, including two (2) years in a lead capacity.
• A Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License within one (1) year of employment; CLP within 90 days.
• Confined Space Entry, Trench Safety, and Work Zone Traffic Control certifications within six (6) months.
• Obtain CISEC or CESSWI within three (3) years from date of hire.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Leads and participates in maintenance, construction, and improvement of drainage infrastructure.
• Administers Stormwater Management Program and oversees drainage projects with external agencies.
• Supervises staff with direction, training, and performance feedback.
• Operates and oversees heavy equipment and performs manual work as needed.
• Monitors and coordinates maintenance of departmental equipment and schedules repairs.
• Provides on-call and emergency response for drainage issues and public concerns.
• Acts as Stormwater Systems Supervisor in absence.
