Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Dallas, TX is seeking a Civil Engineer to support planning, design, and analysis of engineering projects under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer. The role may provide technical guidance to junior staff and collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates hold an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree, an EIT certification, and at least two years of professional experience.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree or related field.
• EIT/EI certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools.
• Ability to apply established engineering practices and sound judgment.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work in an office environment with periodic field work.
• Hours: Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform planning, design, and analysis under guidance of a licensed PE.
• Prepare calculations and deliverables (memos, reports, drawings, specs, cost estimates).
• Evaluate design alternatives and apply engineering judgment.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in QA/QC to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability.
• Perform 1D/2D hydrologic/hydraulic modeling for drainage and floodplain studies.
• Develop and document stormwater system alternatives (detention/retention, channels, conveyance).
• Prepare submittal documentation for regulatory agencies.
