Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You'll assist with daily activities, organize merchandise, train staff, and ensure a positive, safe environment for customers and associates.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and a focus on operational excellence across stockrooms and sales floors in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize, transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Maintain promotional displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store
• Other duties as assigned
