Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store. You will supervise employees, manage merchandising and paperwork, and support deposits and cash control under the Store Manager. Experience with retail operations and supervisory duties is preferred.

The role involves stocking, cashiering, and ensuring profitability and asset protection while delivering strong customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling and training of employees; conduct safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise through receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages and markdowns; conduct cashier functions.
• Ensure planograms are followed and merchandise presented properly.
• Support cash control and deposits; assist with refunds and overrides.
• Assist in store management in the Store Manager's absence.
