Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. You will supervise store employees, assist with merchandise presentation and deposits, and perform stocking and cashiering tasks under the Store Manager’s direction.

You will help with scheduling, training, inventory control, and planograms, while protecting assets and reducing losses in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with cashiering and inventory control is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer’s purchase.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist with planograms and ensure merchandise presentation per Store Manager guidance.
• Ensure cash handling integrity, deposits, and security practices; sign for refunds/overrides as needed.
• Assist in managing the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
