Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to lead daily store operations, staffing, merchandising, and customer service. You will oversee ordering, receiving, stocking and presentation, while ensuring safety and policy compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, recruiting, and training capabilities in a fast paced retail environment. You will be responsible for achieving in-stock targets, managing cash control, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Experience with POS systems and store reporting tools.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and teamwork in a retail setting.
• Recruiting, interviewing, hiring and termination practices including policies.
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and policies.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement opportunities.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly.
• Ensure proper staffing and opening/closing of the store.
• Open the store at least twice and close at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements for sales, profitability and turn.
• Review ordering plans and inventory issues weekly; manage stock.
• Strepture merchandise staging, stocking and displays per company processes.
• Maintain accurate inventory and cashier accountability; ensure security.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and a clean, safe environment.
