Job summary

Dollar General seeks an experienced Store Manager to lead all store operations in a fast-paced retail environment. You will recruit, train, and evaluate staff while ensuring excellent customer service and rigorous cash and security controls.

You will monitor sales trends, manage inventory, and uphold merchandising standards, pricing, and signage. The role requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills to drive store performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and safety rules.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate cash registers to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and security control policies (deposits, store keys).
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems and handle varied situations.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and policies; ensures proper staffing.
• Provides training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; counsels or terminates as needed.
• Makes recommendations regarding pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance expectations and coordinates meetings to enforce policies.
• Ensures store opens/closes properly; maintains staffing at required levels.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify trends, expenses, and shrink opportunities.
• Orders to meet in-stock targets and reviews planning and cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitates efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Maintains merchandise presentation, pricing and signage per standards.
• Maintains accurate inventory through damages, markdowns, scanning and paperwork.
• Ensures cash control and security procedures are followed; supervises cashier accountability.
• Delivers superior customer service leadership and maintains a clean store.
• Ensures tool readiness and adherence to SOPs and policies.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation on time.
