Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead all store operations, staffing, and compliance. You will oversee hiring, training, performance reviews, and adherence to company policies while maintaining inventory and cash controls.

The role calls for customer-service leadership in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and retail management exposure; valid driver’s license is required for store visits and deposits.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Understand cash handling, deposit control, and cashier accountability.
• Operate cash registers to generate reports.
• Apply knowledge of inventory management and merchandising.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills in a team setting.
• Understand recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Know cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, etc.).
• Stay organized with attention to detail; solve problems as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees and staffs the store.
• Provides training, conducts performance evaluations, and counsels as needed.
• Makes recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance and safety expectations; coordinates meetings.
• Ensures the store opens/closes properly and is staffed as required.
• Evaluates store performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Manages ordering and inventory to meet in-stock targets weekly.
• Facilitates staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise per processes.
• Maintains merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory and cash controls; preserves security practices.
• Delivers superior customer service leadership and a safe environment.
• Keeps store clean, organized, and well equipped.
