Job summary

Dollar General in Springfield, MO is seeking a store leader to oversee all store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling and staffing.

You will recruit, select and retain qualified employees, train staff, conduct performance evaluations, manage opening and closing, monitor sales and inventory, ensure customer service excellence, and uphold cash control and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (including sales, profitability, and turn), expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
• Orders to ensure the meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan, seasonal direction and inventory management issues on a weekly basis.
• Facilitates the efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise by following defined Company work processes.
• Ensures that all merchandise is presented according to established practices; utilize merchandise fixtures properly including presentation, product pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Ensures the financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to stated Company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, well-organized store; facilitates a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
