Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development in Nixon, Texas. You will assist with daily store activities, manage merchandise flow, and ensure a clean, organized environment for customers and staff.

You will help train and develop Store Associates, oversee opening/closing, and enforce company policies while maintaining a safe, friendly shopping experience. This role is full-time and involves a hands-on leadership approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and maintain store displays and fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and loss prevention.
• Maintain stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets including cash.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and store staff adhere to procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Create a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
