Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store operations, staffing, and performance. You will lead daily activities, manage ordering, merchandising, and customer service to drive store success.

The role requires staff leadership, strong cash-handling knowledge, and the ability to train and coach team members in a fast-paced retail environment. Valid driver’s license and prior retail management experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail management experience preferred.
• Ability to recruit, hire and counsel staff while complying with laws.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of cash handling and loss prevention basics.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees while ensuring proper staffing.
• Provides training and performance evaluations; addresses gaps with coaching or termination as needed.
• Assists with pay rate recommendations and advancement.
• Communicates performance and safety expectations; coordinates meetings and safety initiatives.
• Ensures daily store operations, opening/closing, and staff coverage.
• Evaluates sales, profitability, and inventory trends to control expenses and shrink.
• Manages stock levels, ordering plans, and cycle counts to meet in-stock targets.
• Maintains presentation standards, pricing, signage, and fixture usage.
• Keeps accurate inventory through damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensures cashier accountability and cash control procedures for store security.
• Delivers superior customer service leadership and a clean, safe store environment.
• Maintains tools and equipment necessary for daily tasks.
• Adheres to SOPs, employee handbook, and company communications.
