Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store operations, including ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, selling, staffing and support, in compliance with company policies.

You will recruit and develop staff, train employees, conduct performance reviews, manage schedules, monitor inventory, and safeguard assets while delivering superior customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (sales, profitability, turn), expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
• Orders to ensure meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan, seasonal direction and inventory management issues weekly; follows up on BSR/cycle counts.
• Facilitates efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise by following defined Company work processes.
• Ensures merchandise is presented according to established practices; uses fixtures properly including pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Ensures the financial integrity of the store through cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to security practices.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Keeps store clean, well-organized, and safe for customers and staff.
• Ensures store has tools and supplies needed to perform tasks.
• Follows Company SOPs and policies; ensures employee compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
