Job summary

Family Dollar in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, supervise associates, and deliver friendly, helpful customer service.

You will assist with merchandising, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention, perform opening/closing procedures, maintain clean stores and safe workspaces, and support the Store Manager in coaching and development of the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits) and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms and floors
• Other duties as assigned
