Job summary

Habitat for Humanity Kansas City ReStore is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to oversee store operations in the manager's absence, ensuring a safe, clean, and customer-friendly environment. You will lead inventory management, staff and volunteer training, and oversee checkout processes while enforcing return policies.

Responsibilities include supervising staff and volunteers, maintaining inventory, and driving a high‑quality donor and customer experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years personnel management experience, volunteer supervision experience preferred.
• Retail experience preferred.
• Knowledge of building materials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate store operations when manager is absent and maintain a clean, friendly environment.
• Manage inventory and ensure a well‑suited assortment strategy.
• Train associates and volunteers to provide knowledgeable customer service.
• Execute quick and easy checkout and uphold the store return policy.
• Manage daily store operations, openings and closings.
• Ensure donated merchandise is clean and ready for sale.
• Drive a robust volunteer program with the volunteer manager to encourage involvement.
• Encourage associate performance using financial data metrics to achieve goals.
• Process daily deposits and conduct daily drawer audits.
