Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our team to help with store operations, customer service and team development. Duties include assisting with day-to-day store activities, helping customers, organizing merchandise, and supporting management in payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention.

The role emphasizes maintaining a well-stocked store, protecting assets, and ensuring a clean, safe, and friendly shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks typical for a store environment.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas of the store.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms and floors.
• Other duties as assigned.
