Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-focused store and support the Store Manager with staff supervision and merchandising.

You will handle cash, deposits, inventory, and planograms, while ensuring sales goals and loss prevention measures are followed. This role requires prior retail and supervisory experience and a commitment to customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and cash-handling abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages, markdowns, and deposits.
• Support planograms implementation and product presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
