Job summary

Family Dollar in Virginia is seeking a full-time Store Associate to support daily store operations, assist customers, organize merchandise from delivery to sales floor, and help with opening and closing procedures.

The role requires reading and following operational directives, strong communication, teamwork, and dedication to customer service. Addressing questions, maintaining clean store areas, and supporting payroll and scheduling are part of the duties at the Chincoteague location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent physical tasks
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment; exceptional customer service

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process corporate directives and maintain store communications
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise, record-keeping, payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store areas and secure assets
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff compliance
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness, bathrooms, floors, and waste management
• Other duties as assigned
