Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store under the Store Manager's direction. You will supervise staff, handle merchandising and deposits, and support daily operations.

You will also assist with scheduling, training, inventory, safety, and adherence to company policies to maximize profitability while protecting assets.

This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work open/close shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers, operate cashier, and itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Rotate merchandise, build displays, and manage stock according to planograms.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensure cash handling integrity, deposits, refunds, and loss prevention.
• Assist in store management in the Store Manager's absence.
