Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus, under the direction of the Store Manager. You will assist with supervision of employees, merchandise presentation, deposits, and losses, while performing stocking and cashiering functions to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will support scheduling, training, safety meetings, planogram implementation, and ensure compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to operate cash registers and scanners and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of cash handling policies and loss prevention practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, rotating, and displaying.
• Assist with maintaining inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scans, and paperwork.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandise presentation per Store Manager directions.
• Ensure cashier accountability, cash control procedures, refunds, and deposits; assist in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
