Job summary

Family Dollar Stores Of Michigan LLC in Detroit seeks an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver outstanding customer service, and develop the team.

You will assist with merchandise flow, open/close procedures, and ensure store standards, promotions, and loss prevention practices are followed.

This role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and processing damaged merchandise.
• Record keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
• Maintain a well-stocked store and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, restocking bathrooms, floors, and trash area.
• Other duties as assigned.
