Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and store operations. This role is used to foster development toward the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include assisting with staffing, merchandising, ordering, cash controls, and maintaining a safe, clean store environment. Occasional travel may be required; strong customer service and compliance with company policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with store security procedures and cash controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in staffing and recruiting activities.
• Assist with merchandising and proper pricing of merchandise.
• Help manage inventory, including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in manager's absence and review financial statements.
