Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, managing inventory, stocking, and store operations. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and financial integrity through cash handling and reporting, while ensuring a safe, well-organized store. Travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train staff.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and operate IBM cash registers and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
