Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in staffing, inventory control, merchandising, and daily store operations. This role supports external development for the Store Manager track and is held for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting, store presentation, inventory accuracy, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well‑stocked environment. You will also participate in opening/closing, reporting, and financial integrity practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and storage of merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
