Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving. This temporary role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position.

The role emphasizes leadership, merchandising, cash control, and compliance with company policies, with responsibilities spanning opening/closing and performance review.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment is preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train qualified applicants to fulfill a store need.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and inventory management.
• Ensure in-stock targets through proper ordering practices.
• Provide customer service leadership and cashier accountability.
• Contribute to store opening and closing activities.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
