Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and overall store operations. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is temporary in scope.

The candidate will participate in opening/closing the store, ensure cash handling integrity, and help drive sales while maintaining a safe, clean shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior retail experience is preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls; able to operate IBM cash register and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising, staging, stocking, and pricing according to store standards.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and facility controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate the store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for expense control and shrink reduction.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
