Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and ensuring store needs are met. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, merchandise presentation, cash handling, and maintaining store safety and policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of cash, store security policies and procedures.
• Ability to recruit, interview, and hire while complying with policies.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standard guidance.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Support store merchandising and pricing per established practices.
• Participate in inventory management and store controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet target stock levels.
• Provide customer service leadership and support.
• Adhere to company procedures and store policies.
• Assist in opening and closing store operations.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe customer environments.
• Operate store in the manager's absence and review business trends.
