Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead all store operations, staffing, and customer service. You will manage ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, and staff development to achieve sales and profitability targets.

You will evaluate performance, enforce policies, ensure compliance with safety and labor laws, and maintain a secure, well-organized store. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret store policies, procedures and safety rules.
• Strong math skills for daily calculations and reporting.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Experience using IBM cash registers to generate reports.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, identify gaps and counsel staff.
• Make pay rate and advancement recommendations.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; lead meetings to reinforce policies.
• Open and close the store as needed, ensuring security and cash control.
• Review sales, shrink, and inventory to identify trends and opportunities.
• Oversee ordering, replenishment, and stock presentation to meet targets.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to standards and price signage is correct.
• Maintain accurate inventory and protect assets from loss.
• Provide strong customer service leadership and a clean, safe shopping environment.
