Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. You will recruit, train, evaluate and counsel staff, ensure security and cash controls, and drive customer service excellence.

Responsibilities include opening/closing, inventory management, merchandising standards, and adherence to company policies. High school diploma and retail management experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules and procedures.
• Performs basic math including percentages and calculations.
• Knows cash handling procedures including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Operates IBM cash register to generate reports.
• Understands inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Exhibits effective oral and written communication.
• Maintains interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
• Understands recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination processes.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees; ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, identify gaps, and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make pay rate recommendations and advancement decisions.
• Communicate expectations; conduct safety and policy briefings; lead meetings.
• Open/close the store as required; ensure staffing and security.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expenses and shrink.
• Order and manage stock to meet in-stock targets; monitor replenishment.
