Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store operations including staffing, training, and compliance with labor laws. You will drive sales, manage inventory, and ensure high standards of customer service.

The role requires strong leadership, payroll and safety controls, and the ability to open/close the store and manage daily tasks. Previous retail management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to operate a cash register and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to recruit and hire staff.
• Understanding of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and policies; ensure store is staffed.
• Provides proper training; conducts performance evaluations; counsels as needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate expectations; coordinate safety and policy meetings.
• Ensure store opens/closes according to schedule; staff accordingly.
• Evaluate sales, profitability and stock, identify opportunities to reduce shrink.
• Manage ordering and inventory to meet stock targets; review weekly plans.
• Ensure proper merchandising presentation and pricing; maintain signage.
