Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all aspects of store operations, including staffing, training, daily opening/closing, and customer service leadership. You will drive sales, manage inventory, and uphold cash controls in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and knowledge of labor laws. You will ensure compliance with policies, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a safe, well-organized store atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to recruit, interview, hire, counsel and terminate in compliance with laws and internal processes.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Manage staffing and scheduling; open and close the store as required, at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify sales trends, profitability, and shrink.
• Oversee ordering and stock replenishment; monitor inventory and cycle counts weekly.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to standards; manage fixtures, pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensure cashier accountability and cash control procedures are followed.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and maintain a clean, safe store.
