Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in all store processes, supervise staff, manage inventory, and ensure proper stocking and receiving. This role is intended to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will help recruit, staff, and lead merchandising efforts, maintain cash control and safety standards, and participate in opening/closing duties while ensuring a safe, well-stocked store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Certain store locations may give preference to bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and proper pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, and audits.
• Follow prescribed ordering to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for expense control.
