Job summary

Dollar General Store in Michigan is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and cash controls. This role develops external candidates for future Store Manager positions and is limited in duration.

You will assist in opening/closing, deposits, and adherence to store procedures, while ensuring a safe, well-stocked environment and strong customer leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Experience in a retail environment is beneficial.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to recruit, hire, train and supervise staff.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising and in-store presentation per manager direction.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and cashier accountability.
• Participate in opening/closing, bank deposits, and store safety.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
