Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staff supervision, inventory management, stocking, and customer service leadership. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Ideal candidates will have retail experience, strong cash handling skills, and the ability to manage store processes in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities for growth within the company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety and security policies (deposits, keys, and related programs).

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Aid store merchandising and stocking according to established practices and manager direction.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Support store opening and closing activities and cash handling.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
