Job summary

Dollar General Store in Louisiana is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and completing paperwork.

This position is designed to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager role for a limited period, with responsibilities including opening/closing, cash control, and ensuring in-store standards across merchandising and customer service.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Able to perform basic math including percentages and cash handling.
• Familiarity with cash deposits and cashier accountability.
• Experience with IBM cash registers and reporting functions.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of store security procedures and cash control.
• Experience recruiting, interviewing, and training staff.
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Bilingual Spanish skills may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in staffing activities and recruitment.
• Assist with merchandising and stock presentation per guidelines.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and store support.
• Open/close store and manage cash controls during absence of manager.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to deadlines.
