Position Description

The Store Manager in Training (MIT) will receive comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to manage and oversee store operations in a convenience store environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and career advancement within the retail industry. The Store MIT will work closely with the Store Manager to gain hands-on experience in managing store operations, staff, inventory, and customer service, with the goal of eventually becoming a Store Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Training & Development: Participate in a structured training program focusing on leadership, customer service, inventory management, and operational procedures. Assist in supervising staff, ensuring store cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency. Learn to manage daily store operations, staff scheduling, product ordering, and quality control.
  2. Store Operations: Ensure compliance with health codes and safety regulations. Assist in managing inventory, conducting stock counts, and reporting discrepancies. Participate in customer service training to create a welcoming environment.
  3. Supervision & Training: Learn to schedule and supervise staff, manage labor costs, and address employee issues professionally. Assist in training new employees on safety procedures and store protocols.
  4. Administrative Responsibilities: Manage daily sales, inventory, and safety reports. Assist in tracking costs, waste, and order volumes. Support employee scheduling and adherence to policies and labor laws.
  5. Health & Safety Compliance: Participate in safety training and emergency procedures, including handling hazardous materials.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Identify operational improvements, analyze customer feedback, and work with management to implement solutions to increase efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business is a plus.
  • Prior retail or customer service experience preferred; supervisory experience required.
  • Interest in retail management and willingness to develop skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid State Driver's License.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical tasks like bending, squatting, and climbing. Comfortable working in cold environments and handling emergency situations. Able to work alone and perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
