Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in executing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and receiving. This role is designed for external candidates to develop into the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You’ll assist in recruiting, merchandising, and inventory control while maintaining customer service leadership and compliance with company policies. Travel and scheduling will align with store needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing of merchandise according to established practices.
• Manage inventory, including damages, markdowns, and proper paperwork.
• Execute ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Support store opening and closing activities.
• Maintain financial integrity and cashier accountability.
• Ensure clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
