Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising staff, inventory control, stocking and receiving, and store operations. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting support, merchandising, inventory management, cash handling, and ensuring secure, well-stocked stores. Travel to multiple locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of safety, cash, and store security policies.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and termination practices.
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems in varied situations.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, stocking and pricing according to guidelines.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns and stock counting.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain cash controls and follow security procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Review operating statements for trends and efficiency opportunities.
