Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily store operations. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The incumbent will assist with recruiting, maintain stock integrity, supervise associates, and handle opening/closing procedures while ensuring cash control, safety, and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, safety controls and related policies.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and audits.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash handling responsibilities.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate the store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
