Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising employees, and managing inventory, stocking, and receiving. This is a temporary role to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position.

You will assist in staffing, merchandising, inventory control, and cash handling while upholding company procedures. Travel to other stores may be required; a safe and customer-focused environment is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret basic operating procedures and safety rules.
• Math skills for calculations and percentage analysis.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Awareness of cash, safety and security policies and procedures.
• Understanding of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and compliance.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Good organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle varied situations with limited standardization.
• Bilingual Spanish may be preferred at certain stores.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing following established practices.
• Oversee inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure secure deposit of all company funds.
• Maintain cash controls and store security practices.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
