Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily operations. This role focuses on developing internal candidates for store leadership within a fast-paced retail environment.

You will lead customer service, assist with opening/closing, and help ensure financial integrity and safety in daily store activities. This is a temporary path toward becoming a Store Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment is preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train qualified applicants to fulfill store needs.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and loss prevention practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices.
• Manage inventory, damages, markdowns, and paperwork; conduct inventories.
• Ensure in-stock targets and proper cashier accountability; protect cash controls.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and operate the store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities; report deadlines are met.
