Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in staffing, merchandising, inventory, and cash controls. This role develops external candidates for future Store Manager positions and operates in the manager's absence.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, inventory accuracy, cash controls, and ensuring store standards in customer service, safety, and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise per established practices and guidance.
• Manage inventory processes including damages, markdowns, and paperwork; conduct inventories.
• Monitor in-stock targets and assist with ordering to meet targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and act as a role model for policies and procedures.
