Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and admin tasks. This role is intended to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and ensuring store standards. Travel to Dollar General stores may be required; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Certain locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by stocking and presenting merchandise according to guidelines.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
