Job summary

Flowerama in Des Moines, IA seeks a full-time Retail Manager to lead daily store operations, supervise staff, and ensure profitability of floral and gift sales. The role emphasizes outstanding customer service, inventory control, and team leadership.

The manager will oversee hiring and performance reviews, manage bookwork, scheduling, and communications with regional leaders. Flexibility with hours, including peak holiday periods, is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong telephone skills and ability to establish rapport with customers.
• Familiarity with florist business helpful but not mandatory.
• Floral Design experience helpful but not mandatory.
• Ability to work as part of a team while completing tasks in a timely manner.
• Typing Ability (30 WPM)
• Point of Sales experience is a plus
• Strong communications and strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication ability.
• Ability to lift 40lbs unassisted
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours daily, and up to 10 hours seasonally
• Commitment to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced environment.

• Complete other tasks as required by regional leader or corporate

• Order and manage fresh and non-perishable inventory

• Communicate effectively daily plans and requirements, and future plans and events
• Maintain good housekeeping practices, appropriate care information, professional signage, and correct pricing as it fluctuates with cost of goods
• Manage customer service and complaints effectively
• Anticipate upcoming needs and follow industry trends through educational resources
• Complete any other tasks as required by the regional leader or corporate

• Commitment to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced creative environment. We are open Monday - Friday 7:00am-7pm, Saturday 8am-7pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm. The management team gets Sundays off during non-seasonal times. Please note that during busy holiday times, hour of operation will be extended to meet the needs of our customers. Employees are also expected to work extended hours during Valentines Day and Mothers Day weeks, including Valentines Day and Mothers Day.
