Job summary

Flowerama of America Inc. is seeking hardworking, upbeat, dependable full-time staff for day, evening, and weekend shifts in our Florist and Gift store in Des Moines, IA. Candidates with strong customer service and/or retail experience are preferred, with helpful familiarity in floristry.

The role requires excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Flexible hours include weekdays and weekends; overtime is common during peak seasons and holidays.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and/or retail experience required or preferred.
• Familiarity with florist business is helpful but not mandatory.
• Floral design experience helpful but not mandatory.
• Typing ability of 30 WPM.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs unassisted.
• Ability to stand 8 hours daily, up to 10 hours seasonally.
• Flexible schedule; hours include weekdays, weekends; extended hours during holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the floral designer to help maintain store profitability.
• Interview, hire, manage and terminate employees.
• Complete and/or audit daily bookwork.
• Report concerns and daily operations to the store/district manager.
• Manage flower inventory and ensure proper pricing as costs fluctuate.
• Maintain housekeeping, signage, and inventory practices.
• Handle customer service and complaints effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Work extra hours during holidays or when business demands.
• Support management with daily operations.

Flowerama is looking for looking for hardworking, upbeat, dependable full-time individuals for day, evening, and weekend shifts. Our Florist and Gift store is seeking qualified applicants who have strong customer service and / or retail experience.

Requirements

• Strong telephone skills and ability to establish rapport with customers.
• Familiarity with florist business helpful but not mandatory.
• Floral Design experience helpful but not mandatory
• Ability to work as part of a team while completing tasks in a timely manner
• Typing Ability (30 WPM)
• Point of Sales experience is a plus
• Strong communications and strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication ability
• Ability to lift 40lbs unassisted
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours daily, and up to 10 hours seasonally
• Commitment to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced creative environment. We are open Monday - Friday 7:30am-7pm, Saturday 8am-7pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm. The management team gets Sundays off during non-seasonal times. Please note that during busy holiday times, hour of operation will be extended to meet the needs of our customers. Employees are also expected to work extended hours during Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day weeks, including Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Essential Job Functions

• Be able to perform and train the essential job functions of retail sales associates, and be knowledgeable enough to oversee the floral designer so store maintains profitability.
• Interview, hire, manage and terminate employees

• Report concerns and / or daily operations to store manager/district manager
• Manage flower dumpage and analysis for profitabilityOrder and manage fresh and non-perishable inventory
• Maintain good housekeeping practices, appropriate care information, professional signage, and correct pricing as it fluctuates with cost of goods
• Manage customer service and complaints effectively
• Complete any other tasks as required by management
• Work additional hours during holidays and/or as required based on business necessity
• Other duties as assigned by the manager
