Job summary

Dollar General in North Carolina is seeking a Store Manager Candidate who supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and reporting. This role develops an external candidate for the Store Manager track and is limited in duration.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, cash handling, and store controls, while maintaining a safe, clean environment and ensuring accurate financial practices and timely paperwork.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and procedures manuals.
• Strong cash handling and deposit controls knowledge.
• Experience with cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with store safety policies and procedures.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, and training staff and ensuring legal compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and conduct inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds and maintain cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the absence of the store manager.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
