Job summary

Dollar General in Mississippi is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staff supervision, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position during a limited term.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, customer service leadership, and ensure compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety and cash control policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, ensuring merchandise is presented per standards.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, and proper paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company policies and participate in opening/closing activities.
• Support cash handling, cash deposits, and store security procedures.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
