Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist in executing store processes, supervise staff, handle inventory, stocking, and receiving, and manage paperwork for a limited period. The role supports recruiting, merchandising, and cash control while maintaining a safe, well-run store environment.

The position emphasizes leadership, adherence to policies, and hands-on store operations, including opening/closing duties and reporting on sales and inventory trends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Able to learn and operate IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Strong reading, math, and safety compliance skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and loss controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide exceptional customer service leadership.
• Model company policies and SOPs in daily operations.
• Participate in opening and closing store activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence and review business trends.
