Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to direct all store operations and deliver strong results. The role requires leading a multi-department team, driving sales, ensuring safety standards, and maintaining exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The ASM oversees store performance in the Store Manager's absence and focuses on people, processes, partners, and performance to create success at Sprouts.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent; degree in business management, marketing, retailing, communications, advertising, or related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of retail experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Proven success leading non-perishable and perishable department operations with integrity, including profit and loss, safety, sanitation, staffing, disciplinary actions, training, developing leaders, conducting performance appraisals, meeting deadlines, managing inventory and shrink, executing sales promotions, and merchandising.
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail, analytical and solution-focused decisiveness.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, bookkeeping/accounting, time and attendance, and human resources software.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Food Safety certification.
• Able to lift 60 pounds and manual handling requirements as described.
• Tools/equipment used include POS systems, scanners, and carts.

Responsibilities

• Positively shape the culture in the store by modeling Sprouts values.
• Develop the store leadership team to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Lead a team of approximately ten people (all Department Managers and Receivers).
• Motivate and develop the management team by embracing Sprouts leadership behaviors.
• Celebrate store successes and identify opportunities for perpetual improvement.
• Evolve customer satisfaction by teaching teams to exceed customer expectations.
• Demonstrate advanced product knowledge when assisting customers and training staff.
• Communicate expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge.
• Provide and receive constructive feedback for effective communication within teams.
• Address emergencies, crises, and equipment failures with urgency.
• P&L ownership - manage inventory, labor, and expenses to meet targets.
• Maintain compliance with safety and food safety standards.
• Identify safety, security, and loss prevention concerns and address with the team.
• Drive sales growth and store experience with Educate and Enrich standards.
• Master top item stock conditions through inventory management and ordering.
• Oversee inventory management including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotation.
• Oversee invoicing from distribution centers and vendors; report discrepancies.
